What would I buy for it? noticed there isn't an S-video jack; I don't care whether or not it is in HD, but would like to hook it up to it.

    Cheers

Does your HDTV have a VGA/DVI port? I'm guessing your T61 has a VGA port, in which case you just need a VGA/VGA connector if your TV has one as well. Otherwise, you might need a converter of some sort.

You said you don't care about HD or not. I've done it often with TV shows that were recorded in SD. It worked fine. Definitely not as good as getting the show in HD from cable but certainly better than watching a show in SD.
