My first visit to this forum and I'm hoping to pick the brains of a guru...

I'm trying to mate a Hitachi TravelStar 2.5" 250Gb SATA HDD, to an Iomax 2.5" SATA caddy which I recently bought for that purpose.

Try as I might, the plastic 'male' locating-lugs, at each end of the caddy's pin-connectors, are a different shape to the 'female' locating-slots on the drive. No amount of dexterity (or rude words...) will make them mate in the right way.

Before I take a knife-blade to the caddy's lugs, I'd welcome your advice, be it an alternative approach with the Iomax caddy, or your recommending a caddy which 100% definitely mates with the SATA pins on a TravelStar.

Sorry - I meant to attach photos of the SATA pins in each case...

There should not be any SATA pins on the TravelStar HD. Are you sure you removed the plastic connector from the drive after removing it from your laptop? The bare TravelStar drive should just slip into the caddy connector block once the connector is removed.

    For Example:

You star! That's exactly what the issue turned out to be. Once that - and the case screwed to the pcb - were removed, all mated as it should. The drive has now installed and I've accessed the files I needed to.

Many thanks for your speedy guidance and your extremely helpful photos too!
