    Help to upgrade a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200

    Hi there guys

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-26Q laptop that I have looked after super well and it is in pristine condition. It does, however, run Vista and this has been a problem for all the time that I have had it. Now, I would like to do an upgrade to Windows 7 and increase the RAM from 2GB to 4GB.

    So, first the RAM, from my understanding this is not difficult to do and I just need to buy the right RAM and open the back and slot it in. Is that right?

    Secondly, my worry with the Windows upgrade is that I tried downgrading it to XP when I first bought it and it couldn't be done because there weren't drivers for the DVD drive and the webcam and wifi, etc. So, if I upgrade to Windows 7, will I be able to do this successfully?

    And the next question, I see lots of Windows 7 licenses on Ebay and that looks good, but is that what I need to buy or do I need to get the £130 version from Amazon? What does the license give me?

    Update the BIOS to the latest available for your laptop, grab 2 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM 667Mhz sticks and just replace your current ones with those, an internal cleanup and repaste should be done given the age of the laptop, if you can afford it, a cheapo SSD would give it a lot more snappyness than anything else.

    Windows 7 works without a key, but your background will be set to black and there will be watermark text and a nag pop-up saying you are running non legit software.

    All drivers by now should be picked up by Windows update.

    All keys on ebay are non legal going by Microsoft legalese, and paying 130£ on a legit Windows key for that laptop would be a waste of money.
