That depends on how much space you need for your OS and programs.

Space is not an issue. Is there a performance difference between the two?

Most people would say the larger one. But isn't that one cost twice as much. Boils down to moolah.

Which honestly, in real life, won't be noticeable.

Which one should you buy? Well, if you can't decide on your own, then I will tell you. Get the 160GB.

Now I'm off to find more easy questions to answer.

Yeah, a good idea if you want the absolute best and you're willing to pay for it. Given the system in your sig, it's no surprise.

It will be hard to notice.

Maybe during installing or if you need high sequential writes for something like HD video capturing, the higher write performance may pay off. I'm not sure.

I'd just get the 160GB version - even if you don't need the space now you might need it later - also, on Intels 20% need to be free minimum to achieve optimum performance, this value is higher for other companies.

The Vertex 2 is a good choice if you are willing to accept the risk of new technology which, in SSD advance, has been one heck of a gamble.

There is a slight difference in write performance, however, the primary differences are still price and capacity. If you don't need 160GB, then stick with the 80GB version. All I can say is, my X-25M 80GB G2 is plenty fast at both read and write.
