    Hey Guys,

Lets say I have a laptop with an 80gb 5400rpm hd, and i want to buy two 100gb 7200rpm hds and hook them up with raid 0. Can I transfer everything from the 80 to one of the 100s and then put the 100s in and everything be good?
Like once the two hds are installed would I be good to go?
If i can what would be a good way to transfer the data?

    Thank You for the Help

Um well providing the hard drives you buy are the same interface of the one you have now (IDE or SATA) and that you have RAID 0 supported on the laptop (if it doesnt have RAID 0 as a feature then no)

if you do and you can actually install 2 drives in there then what you need is to get a USB enclosure for your 80GB drive and move the files over after you have setup your RAID 0 config and installed the OS

Yes, my format is SATA and the laptop does support raid 0, i knew there was someway I could transfer, I just wasnt sure exactly what I needed, and wether I would need to re-install the OS.

    Thank You^^

It would be best if u did reinstall the OS in the new config and u cant just move files over to one of the two new drives cuz RAID 0 is a striped set so both drives will have to be hooked up and formatted with XP installed into them first.
