Hello anyone help me I bought a toshiba m55-s141 about 2 years ago and last year it started giving me some problems. Like the blue screen of death then I was sure it was a hard drive problem. well I think i was right the hard drive gave up on it about 2 days later. Now my question is how big of a hard drive can go back into one of these machines. It came with a 60 gig but you should be able to upgrade it should you not.

You can put any size drive you want in it - but it must be a PATA or EIDE connection.

If its bigger than 137GB, you may have to partition it to 137GB or less to be able to install Windows. This size restriction depends on the BIOS, it may not have this restriction, (do you have the latest BIOS?), but if it does, you'll know why it is crashing on the GUI part of the install (when it reboots).

The WD 320GB Pata HD is a very good option for about $70 for you.

Not only will you notice increased capacity - but the speed increase will be significant too.

    Good luck!
