Got an email about this pointing over to the sister site (TabletPCReview), and it looks interesting to me ( HP Slate 500 Tablet PC First Impressions). I'm sure any serious discussion about this will be had over on the other site, but given that we had discussion about the iPad over here, too, I thought it might be interesting to get some of you guys' views on it as well. And maybe the extra traffic over to the sister site would be appreciated. :)

I just had a look at the link and I'm pretty excited with this product.

Windows 7 means real power (App stores, blaeh, not so much...).

I can see myself using this when scouting locations for future shoots and being able to run my accounting software on the spot. ;)

What I don't get is the $800 price tag. This is too expensive by half, for an atom powered system.

Give it Win7x64, 4GB RAM (exandable to 8GB) and a hd capacity that is more than a phone and I'd be interested much, much more (for the listed price).

Either way, compared to the iPad, there is no comparision. If you want the best experience possible with a slate, a pen/touch input option is miles ahead of just a touch input only design.
