Hi there I am a new member this look like a great site. I have just been given a HP Pavilion DV6331eu from my son, he have had all the upgrades done though the extended warranty with HP, now it is past all warranty's. It was working when I received it I done a system restore it switched itself off like it should but I cannot get it to work again. When I push the power button all I get is the sound of the fan and I can hear the dvd cd rom making a noise like it is looking for a dvd, also the media lights light up then after 10 seconds it switch off and then try to restart again. I understand there is a problem with over heating on this model, can anybody tell me what the problem might be also is it repairable. Hope somebody can help in this matter. Thank you Keith

Try to take the notebook apart and blow out any dust that may be in the fans and/or the intake/exhaust ports.

Possibly, a good notebook cooler may work for your machine.

If you can't take the computer apart (or don't want to), try to blow compressed air through the cooling vents and see if this helps.

For now, let the computer cool off and when it does, raise the back of the computer so that it gets more airflow to keep it as cool as possible. A desktop fan (like for the hot summers) is a good way to direct cooler air towards it.

    Hope some of this helps.

    Cheers!
