Today , the HDMI output was not working... I connected to all 3 ports on my Samsung 37 inch HDTV.. from each port , only a max output of 1280X800 occured... when i did Fn+F4 and choosing Duplicate screen... when i press, Fn+F4 to switch to projector mode , Only the top part of the screen shows... the part which shows the open progrma's name... The rest of screen is blank... is there a fault with the cable or is it a driver problem because i'm able to use 1280X800 res?

Well, I'd try a driver reinstall/update first, even if it doesn't work it at least eliminates it from the picture. Also, I assume you have used this TV before and it worked fine, or is this the first time you have used it? Do you have another TV or monitor to test this on?

I'd be tempted to suggest cable malfunction. Might have you accidentally bent any of the pins in your cable? Maybe from tripping over it, a dog gnawing on it, or a cat using it as a scratching toy?

It's certainly possible, yet highly unlikely. I'd first check the switches (electronic too) and make sure everything is in the correct position/configuration and the content is not something copy protected.

Maybe your port is dead or the drivers are causing the problem that your having.
