    Hey,

Do you know if graphic upgrades are possible/easy on Dell XPS M1710 notebooks? I am looking for a new laptop since my desktop fried and I need it ASAP, I am willing to wait till Dell releases the XPS with the new nvidia 8600M GT card (btw, does anyone know when Dell will use this card in its notebooks?) but I cannot wait until the 8800 comes out for mobile computing. So my question is would you be able to ugrade from a 8600M to an 8800M and if this is possible with the Dell XPS.

    Thanks.

Most Dell's have their own proprietary video card upgrades, so it shouldn't be impossible, but they often limit the upgrades.

If the m1710 is available in the 8600 and 8700, you can probably be able to switch them around. If the 8800 does come out for the m1710, I wouldn't be surprised if it was upgradeable.

Do you know why Dell takes so long to release their laptops with the 8M series? Is this for testing purposes?

I think Dell doesnt announce their new products well in advance. They are normaly announced and then availalbe with in a week. Asus and Clevo announce their new products well in advance (months) but non of 17" Santa Rosa/Dx10 laptops are out yet.
