Got 4500mhd Intel Integrated GPU, was it overkill to get a core 2 duo 2ghz?

I bought my dell 1545 in feburary and now i'm looking and realised that I could have paid £50 (US$80) for a bigger hard drive, 4gb ram instead of 3, a led screen and most important an 256mb Ati 4330 Mobility Radeon but for the ati GPU model I would have the disadvantage of having a 2ghz pentium dual-core instead of the core 2 duo (I think the product selection today is the same as feb or very similar).

Now my question is not how to turn back time, but rather to know if it was overkill to buy a core 2 duo if my GPU is an integrated 4500mhd intel?
I have read some very bad stuff about intel integrated graphics on the web and was concerned that I could have just saved money (£50 from the price I bought my model) with a celeron dual core 1.6ghz, slower FSB 667mhz instead of 800mhz if I got these 4500mhd supposedly poor graphics on board?

    Cheers,
    Lew

Just got it to do the web, P2P, Skype, Google Earth, Movies and only old games like GTA: Vice City and GTA 3, but I don't really game apart from those two (when I find the install discs for them).

I don't think you would notice the difference between the 'pentium dual-core and the core 2 duo' or the 'intel vs ati' graphics in this case.

Games any newer than that and you might wish you had got the ati graphics instead of the intel ones. But if anything, I would think that the intel graphics will give slightly longer battery life than the ati card.

Probably the ATI card would not be able to handle most modern games like Crysis or GTA IV, I don't know, but if you will not be gaming why concerning. Having an integrated chip allows the laptop to be cooler and longer battery times.

I was thinking about that whole thing where I want GTA Vice City to play on my 4500mhz as well as on the Ati 4330, but I also as a GTA fan was wondering if the ATI option could have run GTA IV, but i'm not sure if the ATI card is capable of this as it is a low end dedicated card after all.
If the ATI is not capable of running GTA IV then it would be a waste of money as that would be the only reason for it as long as both options can run Vice City the same.

Gaming is not a big thing for me, but the GTA series is and so is F1 simulators, but that is not the same without my desktop with racing wheel and pedals that I left back in Australia (remenicing now).

Battery life, it matters so little to me that I wouldn't care if it actually had a battery at all to be perfectly honest!
It really is at the bottom of the list, price and performance to do what I need are the only two considerations.
Style or thin/lightness is not one of my priorities as I would have bought a mac then, lol

Also of note to people reading; the Inspirion range of laptops on the UK Dell website only offer the Intel Integrated GMA 4500MHD or the 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330

Btw, cheers for the very quick replies, never been on a computing forum before :)
