What are some of the good AC-powered external DVD drives? Preferrably recordable drives. For use with laptop without optical drive. (I'm not asking about USB powered ones as I don't need to carry it with me, and to save $$ :) )

Thanks, am looking... Yours is AC-powered? Is it true that AC powered are faster than USB powered?

    Edit:
Most I see online are USB powered. Never mind. I'm confused about the different models of LG. There is LG GSA E60N, E60L, E40L, E50L,... How do they differ?

If you don't need portability then get an external unit which uses a standard desktop burner. These use more power (not a problem in your case) but give better performance in return. The limit to performance may be the USB interface. There are several at Newegg for $49.99. This Liteon has Lightscribe and comes with Nero, which is good burning software.

Dealextreme.com sells a USB powered drive that's about them same price as an AC powered one. I believe it doesn't burn DVDs, only CDs.
