Hi, My laptop display hinge screws pulled out from their holes breaking my top case, bottom case and the fan. now i have to rebuild the laptop into a new case.

The only thing worrying me is the screws, is there anything to make the screws and these golden things holding the screws more durable?

If anyone has any advice please share it.

    thanks

sorry for the mistakes in thread's name.

    Can you give less information?

    More details; better responses.

basically my laptop broke because of the hinge screws pulled out of their holes, i rebuilt it but still i don't feel the hinges are solid and i have a feel it will break again. I need anyway to make the screws holding the hinges more durable.

Sorry, that is not the info I was concerned about.

What manufacturer? What model? How old? What type of construction (magnesium alloy, aluminum, plastic, bad plastic...).

If this info is known, I or others may be able to recommend trying to fix this or not...

ahh sorry i forgot about posting that.

the laptop is HP envy 15 2014 model. it's 7 months old but now i changed all the parts we can say it's new.

the holes that have the golden nuts holding the hinge screws are made of plastic.

what happened to the old part.

Thanks for the additional details. I hope others with more experience can help you with this.

My take? This is not worth pursuing in the long run.

HP would not be a future consideration either...

it will be my last laptop from HP.

When i bought it, i thought the top specs envy isn't like pavilion or low price hp laptops. sadly i paid like 1100$ for it. the laptop had too many problems before changing the parts like creaking sound, keyboard flex, loose charging port, loose battery and glitchy touchpad.

thankfully, somehow, they are all fixed after rebuilding.

my next laptop will be from Asus.

Only 2 days after fixing and now it starts to open again

Didn't even complete full 2 days. did some measurements and this hinge is 1mm lower than the other hinge. not sure if i should be worried.

edit, can't close it so i am not sure if that's from the hinge.

You can always look on eBay for repair parts for your laptop.

I.. ah.. know about someone who drilled new holes in an envy, sawed off some bolts, and screwed the hinges stuck with screws that went through the bottom, with bolts on the back, and so on. That worked, but wasn't very pretty. We talked about switching out the bottom plate with plexiglass, but neither of us had the tools to shape a plexiglass layer on the front (to bend it enough to hide the edge on the front - the back wouldn't really matter so much), so we never did it. But I'm imagining that that design could work - having the screws all the way through on the hinges and the motherboard, and anchored in bolts set into the bottom of the plate.

I already bought the new parts for 150$ and installed them. now I am just looking for any way to make the laptop more durable.

I noticed the bottom case is opened under the left hinge, which was broken before, and I can't close it or install it's screw. The same hinge is also 1mm lower than the other hinge.

Basically I have a bad feel it will break again and need anyway to increase the durability or decrease the hinge stiffness. Because I can't pay another 150$ and I don't want to sell it.

I saw some YouTube videos explaining this way to fix the hinges. I already have a plan to use it whenever I will be out of hope :D

It's sad how the envy series became so cheap. Never experienced this problem on my last 600$ inspiron, and now I am affraid to adjust my 1100$ laptop's display. I am even affraid to open it :D
