    Hi all,[ :D]

I have been told that better memory is usable for all systems requiring a lower grade memory...

Sorry, if that was confusing... what I was saying was ... I have been told that DDR2 400 PC2 3200 can be used in replacement of DDR 333 PC 2700 memory. I have also been told that is normally true with all memory.

    Is this true?

My dilema is that I just bought a Compaq R4000z and now want to buy a 1GB of memory. DDR 333 PC 2700 is more expensive then memory that is one step higher in grade (ex. DDR 400 PC 3200).

Trying to save money... [ :)]

Can someone please explain in detail what is true or not.

ddr2 is not the same form factor as ddr memory. it physically will not fit. that being said, pc2700 can be used as a replacement for pc2100; however, it will run at the slower speed.

i do not believe that pc3200 will fit the same slot as pc2700, but i could be wrong.

    Hi Cali,

Thank you for the reply. [8D] It's funny how the one answer you weren't sure about is the one that was most important to me. DOUBLE [ :p][ :p]
