    Hi,

I have a Gateway NV53 laptop and it was working fine for several years. However, for the past couple of weeks, the display is not getting anything when I turn-on the laptop. I did discharge the static charge by removing the battery and pressing the power button for 1 min. Apparently it worked once and the display came and it was working fine for couple of days. Now, from past week onwards, again there is nothing in the display when I turnon the laptop. I hear the fans spinning, I see the power lights on, but nothing in the display. I tried the following options today and still no luck.

    1) Power off the laptop, remove the battery, press the power button for 30 seconds, connect the power supply and turn-it on.
    2) Connected the laptop to the TV with HDMI cable and pressed FN+F8 keys several times. No luck.
    3) Opened the back panel of the laptop, removed the RAM chips, tried one after another in each slots (5 combinations) and powered on. No luck.

At this point, I have no idea as to how to fix the laptop's display issue.

    Can someone help?

    Thanks,
    Balaji.

If you have 2 sticks of RAM, try removing ONE stick, and try booting with one stick, then try the other stick.
bad RAM can cause this since you said it was working before. Of course there could be problems on the mainboard also, but I would start there.

    Hi Falkentyne,

    Thanks for your response.

In my original post, I have mentioned that I already did that (See step #3). It did not help.

If it is a motherboard issue, I don't think it is worth to replace it.

    Thanks,
    Balaji.
