Hello everyone, I have heard lots about the new processors coming out in March/April, but I have heard nothing about the graphics cards. When will the GTX680m and the 7990m be available? Frankly, I don't really care about processors as they are already really good, but graphics cards, that's something I appreciate. Does anyone know anything about that, or will the new processors and graphics be out at the same time?

AMD have already release the desktop 7000 series, it's first on sale on the 9th. I would expect the mobile cards to follow within a month or so, manufacturers will already have access to it so they can design new motherbaords for it and release shortly after it's announced.

Awesome! So this means that there will be a 7990m rolling into production fairly soon. I would prefer nVidia but still. No wonder why the 6990m has been for sale for practically nothing lately.

You can probably expect the 7970m soon, however they'll keep the release of the 7990 for a while like the 6990. They make more money that way.

oh well, then I guess I will play wait and see. I don't need it for awhile yet at least but I do want that card. That or better yet, the GTX680m if I can afford it.

I don't, but the GPU I mean is the 6990m's replacement. I don't know much about AMD or how they do the naming designations, and the fact of the matter is I really want a GTX680m, but considering that the GTX580m costs $500 even now, and it has been out for awhile, I can't get one. Anyway, the 6970m that the M17x R3 can use isn't as good as the 6990m. I am looking for whatever the 6990m's replacement will be, not the 6970's.

The 7970 desktop chip wont go in a notebook much like the 6970 so we will need to wait for the 7870 and it may only be vliw4 anyway. so still a while to wait.

Yeah, I know that the regular GPU can't fit in a laptop for obvious reasons. I was just hoping that it would be out before or at the same time as the CPUs.

Okay, well then I think the 7970m is lined up to be the top performer ATM and it will outperform the HD 6990m regardless whether or not there is a HD 7990m.

If there isn't a GPU with that name planned then the HD 7970m will likely be priced as a replacement for the 6990m, if there is... then the 7970m will probably be cheaper than the 6990m is now, or possibly the same (because of the current $100 off) which would be nice imo :)

It would be an ungodly miracle if they released a new MXM type II card.
