    Hello,
I just upgraded my Aspire 5920G's GPU to HD 4650.
But the GPU is getting way too hot, I can barely use the computer, only surf on the internet. I tried to play some games like BFBC2 on it earlier, but the computer turned off.
Is there anything I can do to cool down the GPU?
I contacted IPC-computer.de, but they just told me that there's something wrong with my heatpipe, or the fan is not working properly, and that I had to check it very carefully.
It worked great on my old GPU.

Try repasting your thermal paste, check if the fans are connected properly and clean the vents. Use a laptop cooler if you have one or just provide sufficient elevation for better air intake.

What GPU did you upgrade it from? ._.

Yeah I would make sure it is pasted correctly and the heatsink has proper contact with the GPU die.

Did you make sure the heatsink is making contact with the GPU?

Well 8600M GT does have a reputation for being one of the faulty card series ._. but an upgrade from 8600M GS to 8600M GT shouldn't increase the heat so much that it shuts down instantly :x You probably did something wrong on installation

Well, how can I be sure that the heatsint has contact with the GPU?

it's the HD4650 which is hot, not the GT card..

I put new heatsink in there..

well now I put all these 4 heatsinks into 1, for the thing in the middle, and it looks like it helped a lot. looks stable on 60c idle..

Put some more thermal paste.Use something like ICD7 or ICD24. 60C idle for any modern ATI GPU is high. I'm idling at 48C now after having played some videos for 7 hours :D

maybe the heatsink is not proper (it may be bent or something) or you are going to need to configure the fan speeds a little bit
