Hey guys, I have already posted a topic in the "Which laptop should I buy" section about getting a G72GX, but on another site, someone told me that the CPU isnt exactly good enough to acheive what I want. So, I know a good amount about desktops (I was planning on building one 6 months ago), but have no idea how laptops work. I need to know how high this CPU can be overclocked to. I need a quad-core with at least 2 GHz probably, so how much higher can I get, and will the cooling be efficient enough or will it fry the computer?

First of all, you don't need a quad core. You are doing simple tasks and playing games (unless there is something you haven't mentioned. Secondly, the laptop you are looking at is last generation. Lastly, as you have already mentioned, laptops aren't desktops, you are buying more than just CPU, ram, GPU, it's about the whole package. :) I will leave the gaming lot to give you some recommendations.

Well someone on Newegg's forums (Eggxpert.com) told me that he has been play the StarCraft II beta, and the requirements are wayy off. He said that they ARE VERY demanding and require a lot of CPU power to play online with higher numbers of ppl, and to be able to play on custom made maps...soooo, thats where I got the logic to get a Quad-core.

Oh and BTW, you managed to answer many questions, none of which I asked :) lol thanks though.
