    The performance should be identical.

I'd go for the G.Skill and avoid the hassle of the rebate.

Go for the G.Skill, as I do not see "Lifetime limited warranty" mentioned in the OCZ RAM listing....

OCZ is a pain with their rebates. It took them 4 months to send me the $30 for the mail in rebate. To be honest, its kinda almost not worth it, if you have to wait that long.

thakyou all for the quick reply.

When I was browsing here, I came to know that OCZ is very good brand for memory, how good is G.SKILL is it worth to go for OCZ if I dont get the rebate ?

Considering that neither of the brands you mention make their own DRAM and I doubt the companies that do make the most important component of the SODIMM. Feed them the best for kicks? Now we are down to PCB's? Do really think that makes one great and one bad?

I don't, RAM brand does not matter for notebooks. I will concede that for desktops some brands pay more for the best DRAM chips for enthusiasts. They also charge accordingly.

Not the case with what anyone ever brings up when comparing notebook DIMM's.

Here is a link that will tell you who makes the critical component vs the place-card (PCB). And my biased opinions. Price is what matters not brand with notebooks. No notebook RAM is enthusiast level remember that.

theres nothing wrong with either brand. get whichever one that is cheaper for you. OCZ does have a rather tedious wait for their rebate, but it eventually pays off

The G.Skill RAM should be solid. I've got 4 gigs of it in my desktop right now and didn't hesistate when buying it.

If you want a good ram, I would recommend Kingston. We have offered Kingston memory for 3 years now. The defective rate is close to zero.

I have bad experince with OCZ SSD, but never try thier memory.

Forgot to mention, you better have 64 bits Operating software. Otherwise, upgrade to a 4GB is wasting your money.

It will only work for 2.8GB under 32 bits O.S.

The little 'fact' about only seeing 2.8GB in a 32bit OS is also misleading. You will see anywhere up to 4GB, but you will probably be able to use less than that due to memory being addressed to other parts of the system. You will likely see anywhere from 3-3.5GB with 4GB installed while using a 32bit OS.

What does OCZ having issues with their solid state drives have to do with the quality of their RAM...seriously?

Nothing to do with RAM. The OCZ memory chips are either manufactured by Elpida or Micron....Memory chips are then surface-mounted on generic or proprietary circuit boards with SPD (Serial Presence Detect) chips programmed with generic code or custom SPD programming done by OCZ.

I have 4 GB of OCZ memory in my machine for the last few months and have not had any problems. I have done their rebate submission through newegg and I got my rebate fairly fast(as fast as rebates usually come back :p ) but my main complaint was their lack of time they give the customer to get the product, prepare all the material required, and mail the submission. They gave me something like 12 days for all this to happen, which included weekends! Thats what got me mad, since I knew they wanted everybody to default on their rebate, but I just made it on time and got my check. Don't know about the terms of this rebate though.
