I just lost my [extremely] old 512MB flash drive over the weekend and I am now in the market for a new one. I would like to go 4GB+ so that I wouldn't have to rely on DVDs and iPods for transferring large things. With a flash drive that large however, I got to wondering if maybe I could move some files over to it from my HDD when not in use, acting as another hard drive. Keep in mind that I am planning on getting a faster model. I've heard of the benefits of having dual HDDs for work speeds, and I'm wondering if it would be worth while getting a larger capacity for that purpose. So would that be worth it? Any idea?

Well, the speed is still limited to USB 2.0, so it'll never be as fast as a SATA or FireWire connection, which is the main negative.

USB ver 2 has transfer rate of 480Mbs, I don`t thing this is a limitation for 4 Gb flash drive...The main negative of the flash drives at the moment, is the low read/write speed around 30MBs for the fastest model.

Maby you heard about raid 0....
