This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Firewire Options?

    Heya, folks. I'm looking to get a new laptop at the end of the summer, but one of my primary concerns when getting one is related to firewire / IEEE 1394 on the thing. I like to record music on my desktop, so some of my gear necessitates the use of a 6-pin firewire connection. How readily supported is this on laptops? I've looked at the specs for some stuff from Asus, and while it says that it supports firewire, it doesn't say how many pins. Any suggestions for laptops that support 6-pin firewire?

    Most laptops have the smaller firewire port. A fix for this is by getting either a express card or another add-on card that has these firewire ports.
