When playing games (hl2, bf2142, bioshock) my computer randomly shuts itself down. This only happens when playing games. I ran the Microsoft RAM diagnostic tool and it came up with a "failure, check cables" notification. I've reseated the RAM twice and the same message comes up. So is my RAM broken or is it something else?

I ran it. Came up with the same notification "...PXE-E61: Media Failure. Check Cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM"

Clean the contacts on the RAM chip using a cotton swab, and then try again.

If it's only during games, then you're prolly overheating your video card and causing a system crash. Use a program like RivaTuner to monitor your gpu temps.

Try running Prime95 for a few hours, that will tell you if it's the GPU or CPU. It could be the system board or AC adapter too. But honestly, it's a laptop that looks to be under warranty, if it's not the AC adapter it's all the same to you: send it back for repair/replacement.

thanks to everyone with advice. i propped up my laptop to allow for better air flow, that stopped it from shutting down. as for the tf2 problem, im guessing its a driver issue and will have to live with it until i find out how to fix it.
