Like the title says, I have a Sager NP5793 and absolutely love it to death. Currently, I am using the integrated sound that shipped with the laptop. Around the time I bought it, I researched whether or not is was possible to use software to increase the sound output, and I was told that only and external sound card can do that.

As a result, I am now (almost two years later) researching an external sound card not only to increase the maximum volume output ( I have Logitech X-540 speakers) but als the overal sound quality. Either way, I receive 5.1 but I would like some extra volume and quality.

MY question is twofold: A) Is it true that an external sound card will noticably increase volume output and B) which one would you all recommend?

I have had extremely good luck with SoundBlaster products, but am open to really anything affordable for a moderate budget.

    Thanks!
