    When will we see it?

The ideal notebook would then be this:

SU3500 (because it is 5 watt TDP and could be passively cooled)
    ION2 (maybe ION2/X4500HD combo)
    11-13.3" WSXGA (1366x768) or higher.
Less than 2.2 lb (1.2 kg)
    5+ hours w. standard battery
It should be possible to do this for less than 1000€

For the purposes you're considering, I think a Core i CULV with a slightly more powerful GPU and NVIDIA Optimus would be in order.

CULV with Core i series coming soon.

Apparently "CULV" processors don't really exist, but its rather a internal code name for "Ultra Thin Notebooks/Laptops" by Intel. The components used are same as regular ULV CPUs, but are heavily discounted.

Nobody seems to make laptops with small screens anymore. Netbooks sure, but regular CPU based ULV CPUs have minimum screen size of 13.3-inch which are still large.

Not happening because the SU3500 is not being made anymore. If you want single core you are stuck with the Celeron 743, which is 10W.

If the Acer 1410 or 1810 had ION2 with an SU2300, that would be my dream subnotebook!

I've been wondering about CULV + ION for a while, and for some reason nobody has ever made anything like it. I don't get it. Seems like the best combination.

    ASUS UL30vt has a G210m. Of course, it has a SU7300, not a SU3500.

But in terms of graphics, the G210m is almost the same thing as ION (2). Same number of cores, clock speed slightly higher than ION, memory bandwidth slightly lower than ION, performance roughly the same (perhaps the G210m has a tiny edge), 14W TDP for G210m vs. ~12W for ION.

The alienware is just too big and ugly.
    The ASUS looks interesting.
