eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

I just bought an old laptop to do some studying i need done for work in peice but the laptop doesnt come with a hdd and its said to use the old crappy ide hdd, i only own a sata 250gb 2.5inch hdd

Will that converter work ok, and will it use the full capacity of 250gb or will it be limited to what the ide drive sizes are limited too? Will it actually fit inside the laptop as well anyone have experience with that?

Just so people don't have to look at link this is regarding a

2.5'' Hard Drive SATA to IDE 44 Pin Converter Adapter.

I guess like most things from eBay. There is always a risk it will or won't work. Take what the seller says with a pinch of salt. I imagine if you put your questions to him they will tell you what you want to hear.

The long and short if it, you buy it, it don't work, it won't be worth chasing your money back on it.

    Win,win fir the seller.

It would certainly work in a desktop but I can't see how that would fit in a laptop. There are SATA to USB converters that might work if your laptop supports booting from a USB device.

I already have my 250gb hdd in a 2.5inch sata to usb enclosure, can i use a full version of windows XP off this much the same way as an internal drive? i need windows xp to complete my work and maybe a linux distro for leasure/media/eye candy.(If the bios support usb boot)

I already searched for the Xp portable on a usb stick but i cant see that working too well since the speed will be crap and im not sure id be able to install all the updates i need to complete the online microsoft course i must finish.
