That's something that has been bothering me for a long time and finally I've decide to look for some comments on that from fellow Windows users...

Here's the thing: I'm using two displays with my laptop - it's own built-in display and the external monitor. The native resolution of both devices is 1920x1080 pixels, so my belief is that they should display exactly the same contents. But that's not true - see the attached pictures: they present the same webpage displayed on the external monitor (1) and the built-in display (2). As you see the built-in display "cuts off" a considerable amount of page and the visible space is smaller than on an external screen.

But why? The resolution is exactly the same, so I believe what both screens display should also match. Can anyone tell me why it's not true?

That looks more like 1920 x 1080 vs. 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) to me. Double check your external monitor.

Thanks for the reply. But no, it's definitely 1920x1080 - the monitor is Dell U2312 and this is its native resolution. It will not serve 1920x1200.

In fact I have another monitor - Dell 2408 and the visible space there is even bigger.

That's why it is a bg mystery to me :)

Is your browser zoomed in or using scaled fonts on your laptop? Are you running dual display or just the external? There is the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the laptop if you are running a dual display. Do a "print screen" of both (not photo) and post because those aspect ratios look awfully different.

See scaling OP. But for the record, different monitors have different scanning ratios. One reason its best to have the multi-monitors from the same manufacturer.

Thanks - your remark has led me to a solution! The thing is that for laptop the setting in Control Panel => Display ( Change size of all items) was different than for the external display. For laptop the slider was in the middle and for external display it was set at the minimum ( Smaller). After making them in the same position the screens are the same.
