I just got the card as compensation for Dell's minor screw-up and was trying to install it last night, but even after repeating all the steps set forth in the manual (plugging the card in, then installing the drivers, etc), it wouldn't work. I could hear the pop when I put in earphones, a piece of Creative software (I think the registration module) would recognize it for what it is, but Windows (Vista x32) and the rest of the Creative suite wouldn't. I kept getting the "no supported device installed" error. Then I disabled the on-board audio from Windows. After I rebooted and reinstalled the Creative suite for the umpteenth time, on-board sound started working again - I didn't find an option in the BIOS (A12) to disable it. Device Manager recognizes the card as some sort of PCI to PCI bus, not a sound card.

Has anyone else had the same issue? I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows to get rid of the on-board audio. Moreover, I don't even know if it'll fix the problem.

Have you tried the updated drivers Creative put on their website not too long ago?

Haven't done that yet, but I get a feeling it's more of a hardware conflict issue?

It could be. But Creatives audio drivers have been quite horrible. So it's worth a try.

It sounds like you're having the same problems that I had. No matter what I tried (and it seemed like I had tried everything) I could not get my M1330 to recognize my X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook. Right before I was about to give up, I came across some posts by people who said the only way they were able to fix the problem was to make sure that the card was plugged in either when their computer booted up for the first time or immediately after reinstalling Windows.

That was not something I particularly wanted to do so I dug a little deeper before finally finding a solution that seemed too good to be true. All I ended up having to do was install the Dell Notebook System Software Rev:A00 from the Dell Resource CD. After a reboot everything worked fine! I hope the same works for you.

Worked perfectly after Windows Update installed the Service Pack. Who'd have thunk it...
