    Hey everyone,

After browsing these forums and doing research for a good while, I went ahead and bought a Dell Latitude D630 with 2GB RAM installed. I'm quite excited as it is shipping out today! Anyways, I'm interested in upgrading the system memory later in the summer and I have a couple of questions.

    1) Is there any real advantage to having 4GB instead of 3GB of RAM? I ordered my system with XP Home, and I've been hearing how most operating systems can't yet take advantage of 4GB. Thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

    2) If there's no reason to upgrade to 4GB, or if I decide I don't want to deal with removing the keyboard, could I leave a 1GB stick under the keyboard and just install a 2GB stick underneath? Or would that cause a problem?

    Thanks.

I would go for the 3GB. Your performance won't suffer significantly compared with 2 x 2GB, as explained in the dual channel RAM guide.
