I have a dell inspiron 9200 that is out of warranty and has a problem with a connector to the battery. It will only charge the battery if I hold the cord a certain way. I have talked to dell and they believe that a connector has come loose and needs to be soldered back on. They advised me to take it to a local computer techncian. I want to know how to get the back off. It won't come loose and I have all the screws out. Is there some trick to it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

to disassemble most dell laptops, you must also take the keyboard out. To do this locate the pastic bezel between the keyboard and the screen. Use a small flathead screwdriver to remove it. Underneath their should be a few screws which hold the chassis together. Once removed you should be able to get the system apart.
The jack you need to solder back in is the actual jack you plug the power cord into. Once all of the leads are thoroughly connected to the motherboard, the system should work without any problems.

Thank you very much for your help and quick response. Your directions were accurate and easy to follow. We have followed your directions and it appears to be charging. It will be great to be able to have use of it again. I will be sure to refer your site in the future. Thank You, Jen Traver
