Hey guys, first post for me.

I recently purchased a Dell 1720 Inspiron with the T5550 (1.83 GHz), a 256MB Geforce card and 2GB or ram.

From running various benchmarks I've noticed that the ram isn't holding up to my needs (Damn you Vista! :p ) so im looking to go for 2 X 2GB sticks of ram instead of the 2 X 1GB currently in the Laptop.

First question: I found only 1 of the DIMMs (Housing a 1GB Stick) in the memory compartment on the underside, where would the other DIMM be located?

Secondly: Currently the ram I have in there is 1GB Dell DDR2-667 SODIMM RAM Memory (p/n A0612536), is this replacement memory acceptable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231135

Thanks for the help mates, great site!

Well, there should be two of them. I didn't think one stick was integrated. But mind you, if you have a 32-bit OS you it can't "see" more than 3,5Gb of RAM. So 1 stick of 2Gb would be another good solution.

I thought all DDR2 SO-DIMM modules were good as long as the frequencies match.

Yes that RAM is fine but you can get CL4 for $15 more (4GB), link.

PP, that thread is a bit old there, just keeping you on ball, and getting another post :D

Voyager, please do not revive old threads. Old thread = like three weeks or older.
When one revives an old thread, they confuse other members, like poor powerpack, who just wanted to add their two cents to the cause, not knowing that the thread is so old.
