Hi, and sorry if this is in the wrong section, I couldn't think where else to post.
    Right, to the topic....

I, accidentally, dropped a heavy maths text book on my advent 7105. The screen is beyond my levels of repair (though they are low levels), but it does have PC world's PC performance insurance (its a brit computer chain). So what do you think is my best option. Take it in and try and claim on the insurance? Or go to an electrical shop and fix it? Its not like the laptop is too important, as I have a new desktop, but it would be nice to have for school etc.
PLEASE help. Pics attached of damage.

You might take a look on Ebay for a cheap replacement. Several people here have found replacement monitors.

found the screen on ebay for £70. Anyone know of anywhere cheaper?
Reading some instructions, it actually doesn't seem to hard to fix so I might do the job myself.
Thanks for the help by the way!

EDIT: Also, the pic doesn't make it clear but the damage is inside the screen. If I feel around the damage, there aren't any cracks I can feel and the only touch difference is that where the ink has leaked out there is a barely noticeable bulge. will this make a difference?

A heavy math text book did that? Was the book made of heavy steel or something? :p

I doubt you'll get it any cheaper than ebay. Other online shops will charge double, sometimes triple that.

Well (tbqh) it was a drawstring bag with a few books in, but the only heavy thing was the maths text book, although said text book weighs close to 1 kg. The impact made a dull cracking sound, so I'm pretty sure that was the damage. And I've had long term problems with the screen, where I have to apply pressure at the hinge and rub along to get the back light to work, so I can try and claim it was faulty. It is an advent, in my defence, so the build quality isnt epic....
