Just curious what the video quality would be like running video from my dv4t to my plasma using the hdmi port. Until the PS3 and Netflix get their stuff together so I can use the streaming, I was wondering if I could just stream from my laptop to the TV. Anyone done this?

Id use my desktop, but its several rooms over.

    Thanks!

Uh unless you have an xbox 360 or a PS3 I don't think streaming would work. An inspiron 1525 with HDMI connected to my 42 inch philips looks beautiful

Not sure what you mean. Im simply wondering this: If I connected my laptop to my 50" tv and then streamed netflix (from the laptop to tv), would it look good?

I mentioned the ps3 because I have one and Im hoping someday it can do it as many blu ray players do (stream netflix that is).

The phrase “Video streaming” is used when sending a live stream of video over a network, you don’t use that term when sending a video signal over a cable to a display device i.e : When connecting your laptop to a TV with a HDMI cable.
As for the quality over HDMI : it will look great. HDMI is currently the best way you can hook up a TV. If the cable is going to be very long (15m+) then you have to buy a good cable; because cheap low quality long cables can have visual artifacts.

Im familiar ;) The video will be streaming from the Netflix site however. I just wasnt sure if the caliber of vid card in the laptop made a difference or not. Im happy to hear that it should look good!

    Ok :) ...
Your notebook has either an Intel 4500MHD or a nvidia 9200M, both cards are capable of handling HD content and HD resolutions quite comfortably. You have nothing to worry about there..

I am currently using a 26” external monitor over HDMI at 1920x1200 with my 8400M GS, works pretty well.
