I think the Acer H5360 is a much better deal, higher resolution and everything, and it's cheaper at $550.

Also I use it and it's fantastic, albeit limited to 1280x720 in 3D mode (this is the highest you can get on the current 3D Vision supported projectors). The only time I've noticed the lack of pixels is in Starcraft 2 where on the minimap in Star Battle the big ships sometimes show up as rectangles (same width, half height) instead of squares.

The refresh rate on the Acer is in fact 60Hz per eye (so it's 120Hz, not 85Hz like some other DLP solutions).

That looks very nice + rep! Anyone else have any projectors to show me (1080p would be preferred if at a reasonable price)

I don't care about the rep. There are two projectors I'm currently looking at. They are not DLP, but LED based. They will last A LOT longer, but are quite a bit dimmer.

I'm currently (still :p) debating between the Acer K11 for $360, or the LG HS200 for $500. I'll see if I can dig up my thread asking about these, they have some videos of them in action.

Edit: Ah, here's the thread. http://forum.notebookreview.com/off-topic/539004-led-projector-acer-k11-lg-hs201.html

Remember that the problem with DLP projectors are, you have to continually replace the lamp, and those are usually pretty expensive. I'd rather sacrifice some brightness for a much longer lifetime (~30,000 hours vs. 3,000-5,000 hours typical).

If I had the money Woot yesterday had a top of the line Optoma 1080p for $600ish that normally cost $1200 no 3d though :/

1080p cost significantly more than 720p in projectors it seems so I think finding one that will fit in your budget is going to be near impossible, even more so with the limitation your imposing that it needs to be for 3D.

Neweggs page you linked says 85hz max, just a flaw in the specs?

The Acer H5360 does 1080p in non-steroscopic-3D mode. In fact, I have my desktop at 1080p and my games at 720p+3D.

Yeah; quite sure it's 120Hz (not that I can tell, but with vsync 'on' most of my games are capped at 120fps, not 85fps => vertical refresh rate = 120Hz).

What drivers do you use for the stereoscopic 3d? Do you use the latest 265.66? I have the 197.13 that supposedly have the Stereoscopic drivers but I don't see anything about it in the Control Panel. Do I have to wait to hook it up to my new Projector before the option becomes visible? Let me know mate, I appreciate the input of another ACER 5360 owner. (Yes, I bought it and waiting for it to arrive ^^)

I use the WHQL 260.99 notebook drivers with the stereo driver from the 3D Vision CD v1.38 (to support the IR emitter).

Edit: In the CD v1.38 autorun, use the 'Install NVIDIA 3D Vision Software' button to install the USB driver for the emitter; the 'Install NVIDIA Graphics Software' button uses the desktop drivers.

Got it yay! Setting it up now.

-Edit: Looking real nice so far, played Fallout 3 in stereoscopic 3d mode and was still getting a good 35-45 fps on it on 720p. Didn't get my Nvidia shutter glasses yet though, only have the red and blue cheap glasses right now.

Coolio. Performance will (obviously) be the same with the NVIDIA glasses and the red/blue ones.

    You must try Burnout Paradise.

Awesome! I have it! Had Burnout Paradise since I first got this laptop 2 years ago lol Now that I think about it that game must look AMAZING in 3d mode ;)

Real happy so far. The games (tried Left4dead 2, Fallout 3 so far) looks GREAT in 720p in 3d mode, I can't see any pixelation at all with 4x AA and the projector display is now just under 100 inches giving an amazing feel of depth even without the shutter glasses yet. Should be getting them this afternoon though.

Edit- Nvidia glasses should come tomorrow, still it's pretty amazing playing on a nearly 100 inch screen at 120hz. Enjoying my games in a way I never have before ;0

Got the 3d glasses in the mail today! Played left4dead2 @720p in stereoscopic and it looked AMAZING. Fantastic experience on a 100 inch display. It looks like there is a hole to another dimension there haha.
Anyway I wanted to ask you a question. How do you watch regular dvd and blu ray movies in stereoscopic 3d mode? I've tried using the Nvidia 3d player but it only works with particular movie files.

I don't recommend watching regular movies in emulated 3D, but to play 3D Blu-rays (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was the only one available at the time I bought the glasses) you need software like Arcsoft's TotalMedia Theatre 3 or Cyberlink's PowerDVD 10 Ultra Mark II, either of which cost a bomb.

Both have an option that lets you play regular 2D movies in 3D by getting data from a few frames ahead (doesn't always work well).
