    Hey there:

I am thinking about getting the E1405 but am not very happy with the onboard 950 Media Accelerator video card. Does anybody know WHY Dell does not offer options like they do for the E1505? Has anybody heard that there might be possible upgrades/options in the future?

    Thanks!

    Stefan

Dell should give you an option to upgrade your graphics card, because they let you on all the other notebooks..............

i hear you, i just got the E1505 and my best choice was a x1400, while the E1705 gets an Nvidia card, but i could not deal with the crappy battery life of an E1705.

let me tell you, i can get 5.5 hours of battery on the e1505 with the 9 cell, i recommend it if that why your getting the e1405, otherwise i would try and get a m1210.

no, he is right, the e1405 only can get integrated, the E1505 up to x1400, and the E1705 gets up to the geforce go7900 gs.

If you have an integrated card there is no way you can upgrade it. Not now, not ever. If you want mobility and some gaming power then you really need to go to the XPS line. The reason they do not offer the cards that are in the E1505 is because in a smaller form factor it cannot dissepate heat effectively enough.

you cant upgrade most notebooks. Some modern notebooks come with nvidias MXM technology. Those are the lucky ones.

The reson why a 14in notebook doesnt have a great card is because of space and cooling. Your already craming alot of top tech in such a small space, so adding more just isnt on the menu (except for a certain few). If your looking for a true gaming 14in lappy get ready to spend some $$$$.

Well, basically the only MXM enabled notebooks that actually have a maker that backs them to an extent is Dell (i.e. the I9300/E1705/I9400). The reason probably Dell won't add a dedicated card is that they have to re-work the interior of the E1405 to adapt to a newer GPUs power and cooling demands.

'Nuff said. The E1405 will not get a dedicated card.
