    Hey guys,

The ram i currently have in my W90vp is bottlenecking my overclock. It also has all its spd settings locked away. Im looking for ddr2 800mhz ram that I can rewrite the spd to run at 667 speeds. If you guys have used any specific modules that have been flashed sucessfully please let me know :)

The best part of this all is that I already have hynix chips and they do overclock great! I can pull 1066 out of 800mhz but then they run out of steam. Figure cpu has atleast another 600mhz-1ghz left in it if i can find the right memory.

Going to finish reading the thread you posted, if it doesn't work Im going to grab some cheap Kingston and maybe an OCZ stick for testing.

    Thanks

Wow, 1066 is great. My 800mhz samsung ram can't even get to 900mhz.

By either overclocking the FSB or by using thaiphoon burner or SPDtool.

I would not use SPDtool though, it is not a great program. Thaiphoon burner works much better.

Also make sure your chipset can run the ram at the new frequency. For example I can flash my 667mhz ram to 800mhz, but if I put it in my notebook with the GM965 chipset it just downclocks to 667.

Overclocking the FSB is the best way to go IMO.

Yes, I agree, but if you OC the fsb to the point where the ram fails, but the cpu has headroom (like in my case), it wouldbe nice to flash the ram to lower speeds so the fsb can be pushed even higher.

I have the same problem. That's why I tried to pin mod the ram EEROM.
It's too bad that I failed, but I may give it another go.

I've got a spare motherboard for my notebook which I hope to bring back to life next week. If it works you will see my next try at ram modding.
I will flash the SPD I want onto the EEPROM on my 533mhz ram (since it isn't WP). Then I'll unsolder the EEPROM and solder it onto my samsung ram.

Planning to grab a few different dddr2 modules when I head to the local pc shop soon. Any luck moral? Would LOVE to have a guaranteed module that will flash. SPDtool does seem pretty garbage, kind of works kind of doesn't >.<

I cant get thaiphoon burner working on my 64bit vista install. Is there any way around that or am i better off using a different laptop to flash the memory?

An older version of thaiphoon burner worked for me with 64bit vista.

But the current one is not good. Might be worth installing win XP just to flash the ram.

I can't get my second motherboard to work yet.

I have a feeling Kingston KVR will always work because they do not manufacture the chips or modules they should be flashing their own SPD hence leave it unlocked.
