I installed the M4 128 using Crucial's cloning program. Then ran a benchmark. Nothing stellar but I'm happy with the results. It is a big improvement from a hard drive Not the fastest little piggy on the market. However the price was right.

Any tips or tweaks I can do to speed things up a little?

NONE of this is needed. If you want to optimize your SSD experience, stop trying to optimize it.

I concur, you shouldn't mess with your system. Make sure TRIM is enabled and that defrag is disabled and don't worry about the rest.

The only other "tweaks" i would ever recommend involve disabling hibernation and shrinking the page file (given sufficient RAM) to gain space if you're ever in need of extra space. Indexing, superfetch etc can stay on without causing any detriments to the system.

    Pretty much what they said.

For your knowledge, I would also like to bring to your attention the print screen button on your keyboard (not trying to be mean about it). It's a quicker option and produces much clearer screenshots.

hmmm... there is something terribly wrong here, your 4k qd1 is much lower than it's supposed to be by factor of 3 in fact (performance wise, not reliability wise). Even lower than on my bios crippled hm55 chipset.

However, if everything is fast enough for you, don't mess with your system, just leave it as it is if you don't know exactly what you're doing because this is much much faster than any hdd.

    Thanks Everyone

    NotEnoughMinerals.

I had the wifi card out of the laptop. I could not use the laptop to get on the net. I had to be inventive. A camera was handy and that was the quickest way to get the screen shot.

The low scores on the first benchmark on the 4k read/writes is why I asked about some tweaks. Somehow that took care of itself.
Here is a little better results Not sure why the other benchmark was so low with the 4K read/write. Now it looks much better. I checked trim that is on And shut off the indexing and defragging

Yep, drive looks absolutely fine (at least benchmark wise) now.

    Hi Everyone
I was just jerking around with the Intel rst drivers. I installed the latest drivers off the Intel web site. I went from RST KIT 10.6.0.1002 to RST KIT 10.8.0.1003. The newer drivers did not make a difference in the bench marks. Although overall the system appears to be a little quicker. For now it's a done deal I can live with the system the way it is. . So far so good. Time to leave well enough alone. And enjoy the ssd drive for what it is.

    Hey, I have some questions.

After installing Win7 and drivers, how much space is left for other applications?
Cause I was told that SSD usually comes with other stuffs in it which takes up some space as well.

    Thanks in advance

SSDs are blank just like a hard drive...after formatting some space is "lost" due to how manufacturers display capacity based on the decimal byte (1MB=1000Kbyte) versus how computers use capacity based on 1MB=1024Kbyte. But there isn't any stuff on a new SSD, if there is just format the sucker!

Pretty sure that I'm only using ~40GB of mine, and I've got a ton of programs installed. My steam library is on a separate hard drive though as it is approaching 200GB.

Windows without any tweaks should be around that, i got mine down to 12GB by shrinking the page file and disabling hibernations, but otherwise, 20GB is pretty standard for a windows installed. Also, all the space advertised will be available on the SSD. If it says 240GB, it is 240 000 000 000 bytes available.
