Hi, i want to purchase a Dell u2410 monitor as an external to my laptop. The connection will be using an HDMI cable and my concern is if my HDMI port is able to work on the native resolution of the monitor, which is 1920x1200.
My laptop is this one with an ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650. The usage will be mainly movies and web browsing for now.
So will i face any problems???

Yes, HDMI can do 1920 x 1200, no problem. That may be the limit on your hardware even though HDMI 1.3 can do 2560×1600.

You won't have any problems, video-wise. Audio-wise, be sure to set default device to HDMI to hear sound. Right click speaker icon, choose playback devices. Then you will be able to set default playback device from a list.

I cant find anywhere the specs of my hdmi port. The monitor has no speakers. Perhaps i'll connect it through HDMI-DVI. Anyway thank you for your fast respond!

I found a usefull board in wikipedia about HDMI. In the worst case even if i have the 1.0 version it supports 1920x1200 so there is no problem. Btw, the quality of the picture will be similar as to a desktop computer??

If it doesn't list the specs, then it will be at least 1920 x 1200. You can still connect it via HDMI if no sound. I just figured you'd want to know about sound since you plan on playing movies. But I suppose you will have an external speaker setup then?
