Not sure if this is in the right section. I am confused about the difference processor speeds and how they compare to each other. For example, my notebook is a core duo 1.83 and my desktop is a amd athlon xp 2600+ 1.91 ghz? What does the 2600+ stand for and which one is faster? I'm able to run command and conquer on my notebook, will I be able to do the same on my desktop and play the new games out?

The Athlon XP performance indicator can only compare between that particular series. So, your XP 2600+ is faster than a standard XP 2500+. The XP 2600+ isn't dual core and it will perform much slower than the Core Duo T2400. If you are referring to Command and Conquer 3 in your post, then it could be difficult to play it on your desktop. It also depends on what graphics card is currently installed in your desktop.

You can't compare the speed anymore only because it is not equal. The Core 2 Duo is faster than all others so a 2Ghz might be faster than a 3.6Ghz (single core) or a 2Ghz core duo or Turion X2 2Ghz. You have to look at what CPU family it is and if dual core and go from there. Good luck it is not that hard just don't only look at Ghz.

Command and conquer says it requires a 2 ghz computer, so will my notebook run with it?

He's probably talking about C&C3 which (I assume from the system req) needs a single-core CPU@2Ghz. Your core duo @1.83ghz should easily meet those requirements without problems :)
