    Is there any big difference in HD/RAM brands?

    Hitachi generally performs the best but runs the hottest and loudest. Seagate will run quieter and cooler but is just slightly slower and costs a bit more.

    In terms of memory they of course will have different levels of performance to some extent and some are better for overclocking than others. Corsair is one of the best out there. Crucial is another favorite of mine as they are one of the only companies that actually make their ram whereas most just rebrand.
