Not sure which model you have but here is a page from the basic manual: "The following processors are available, varying by
    computer model:
    ❏ Intel Pentium M 750 (1.80-GHz) with 400-MHz
    front-side bus (FSB)
    ❏ Intel Pentium M 740 (1.70-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Pentium M 735A (1.70-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Pentium M 730 (1.60-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Pentium M 725A (1.60-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Celeron M 380 (1.70-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Celeron M 370 (1.50-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Celeron M 360 (1.40-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
    ❏ Intel Celeron M 350 (1.30-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
-Full-featured models feature both Intel Pentium M and
Celeron M processors. Defeatured models feature only
    Celeron M processors."

    Hope that helps.

Look under the laptop and it should be on a decal. If you're not sure which is which just put it all in here except serial #.

Check here for the manual and go to page 8. There may have been an update to the processors you can use, but you would have to look around and check.

As RedBeardedDevil said, you can upgrade to almost any 400MHz FSB Pentium M processor, whether it be Banias or Dothan (preferred) core. If I were you, I'd go for Pentium M 745 (1.8GHz, 400MHz FSB). I guess you could also get PM 755, which is rated at 2GHz, your sytem should be able to run it.

Seems like they are hard to get. I just looked around real quick and they can be a bit pricey. I found a 745 for $160us but I have never heard of the site.

Price/performance wise, I think the best upgrade would be the Pentium M 735 (1.7 Ghz).

    Here are few links:

Another alternative is to use a Pentium M7x0 such as the M740. The M740 and the like will down clock in your laptop. I used one of these in a friend's laptop (he has the same chipset as you). The result is now the M740 in his laptop is running at 1.3ghz (13x100mhz) instead on 1.73ghz (13x133mhz). The M740 has became a sort of ULV CPU. With the undervolt via RMclock all multiplier are below 0.8v. With this setting the fan spins only for 2-3 seconds when the laptop is turned ON. After that the fans OFF even when the CPU is under load. Max CPU temp. about 55c when the ambiant temp. was over 30c.

Performance wize my friend feels that his laptop is quicker with the M740 @ 1.3ghz than his old Celeron M360 @ 1.4ghz.
