    Hello,

My AC adapter burnt out and I am looking for a replacement. However, I'm unsure whether I have to buy a very specific/expensive adapter, or whether I can save money and buy a more generic one.

The model line is R3000, and the model is a R3230.

I found an adapter online that says it works for R3200 (along with a number of others), but the input/output is slightly different.

    My adapter's input is 110-240V- 2.5A, 50-60Hz. The output is 18.5V--6.5A.

The one I'm looking at is identical except it's input is 1.5A. Will this be a problem?

    Thank you for any help!

With the 'input' side indicating such a large reduction, it implies it is simply more efficient than the one you have currently.

As long as the output at 18.5 Volts and 6.5 Amps is matching your old adaptor's output exactly - then there should be no problem (you should even have a little less to pay on the electricity bill each month for charging the notebook).

The one 'gotcha' remaining is the polarity and the size of the plug that attaches to your notebook - are you sure these are the same? Even if the size is the same (exactly), how can you be sure the polarity is?

    Good luck.

I have an old R3247US that had the same problem. I just looked up R3000 on Amazon and bought an adaptor off there for, if I remember correctly, something like $25. The R3000 series should all use the same AC adaptor, the differences lay in internal components as I recall.
