    I have a Compaq C500 laptop and want to add a IEEE1394 port, but i cant find my pci card slot how do i add that port without a PCI slot

    You could get a firewire-to-usb cable though it won't be cheap.

    Okay, your laptop does not have pcmcia or an express card slot, so your only option is a usb to firewire cable.

    here are your options:
    Male USB to male 4 pin firewire:

    You are going to have to get the appropriate firewire cables to connect the firewire device to one of these adaptors.

    ty for the replies, i tried a firewire to usb cable and my computer did not recognize the camera i then called canon and they said i cant use an adaptor it has to be a straight connection from the camera thru a fire wire grrrr.any other fyi it was a sima adaptor
