    Hi guys,

I got a 260m lying around because i upgraded my laptop to 5870m a while ago, and i kept 260m around in case 5870 flamed out or something, but so far *knocking the wood* it has been very good :) anyway, my girlfriend plays WOW, and she plays it on really old desktop, and she's always complaining how much better it looks on my lappy :p So i was thinking of getting cheapest barebone laptop where i can install 260m in it, and get a nice i-? chip thru ebay or something. Thanks for your help!!

*sorry mod if this is in wrong forum, if so, please move it*

I've never seen a new barebone laptop that didn't come with a GPU.
Interesting to see if there is anything out there.

Are there any barebones laptops anymore? Last I checked was the OCZ one and that was like last year. I know MSI and ASUS haven't had one in awhile..

sell the 260m and use the money for a $600-700 machine with a dedicated GPU because you'd have to buy memory and hard drive as well. Lenovo Y460 is a good choice, i5, HD 5650, 4GB RAM. Usually with discounts < $750.

I would suggest selling it as well. Then get like an Asus G51vx from eBay for $450.

    IT has:

    C2D
    GTX 260m
    4GB
    320GB

    More than enough for WOW.

    ^^^
That's an even better suggestion. If the biggest concern is WoW then you don't need an i3/i5, most any core 2 duo will do.

I would also suggest to sell it as well. I was looking for a barebone laptop myself, was not able to find anything, and still not...

I agree, but then again...kinda taking the risk with ur warranty thingy... I will suggest calling up dell, make a fuss abt the 260m trottling, then ask what they can do about it (*usually at this point, they will offer the 460m or 5850m) then settle on which day to schdule the change, else demand to talk to manager. I own the 260m gtx before and i hate it whent trottling kicks in, until it was replaced~ :p

You can get MSI in barebones. But yes hardly ever advertised without a GPU.

I got my m860tu however without a gpu, screen, charger, optical drive and everything else.
I think you could possibly get an m15x r1 here without a gpu. I was asking around quite a bit when I thought I bought a FX 3800m MXM 3.0b for 200 (turned out be the wrong picture).
I think anyone selling a gx640 or maybe even w860cu with 5850 or 5870 could be open to selling without the GPU as there are a lot of potential buyers.

anyway not necessarily the wrong forum ;) but you could get some offers in the WTB section of the marketplace.

Some C2D's will outperform I3 and some I5's even. The I series wasn't a huge revolution so much as evolution.

C2D isn't as dated as people like to make it seem.
