I'm heading out to Asia (Hong Kong) next month and was wondering if RAM is cheaper there vs. here in the States.

Anyone who has insight / experience please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

I think so, their economy level is not in the same level as ours, so you should spend less money in terms of dollars in conversion for the ram

    First thanks for the reply.

Hong Kong's economy is one of the richest in Asia. And their currency (HK Dollar) is pegged to the US Dollar -- so there aren't any conversion differences...

Anyone else have experience buying RAM in Hong Kong?

    Thanks

If you need to know where to go then jump on the MTR (underground rail) and go to Sham Shui Po station (Red line), come out of exit D (cant remember if it is D1 or D2 but its straight up the stairs) and head over the road to the 'Golden Computer Shopping Arcade'.

There are three floors, the top one tho you can only get to from outside the front of the building (next to the biggest road), that top floor has the highest density of computer parts but the easier to find floors are good too.

I would recommend going at 11-12am or so, unless you like having no personal space and moshing through huge crowds of computer geeks, gamers and shoppers, the aisles are small, the amounts of people that frequent the place are not.

If I was actually in HK at the moment I would take the trip there and give you some prices but as it happens I'm out of the country for a while.

I assume that the US has a tax on goods sold, HK does not. Do not wait to buy things in the duty free at the airport as all of HK is duty free and the shop rental at the airport is huge so things cost more there than anywhere else.
