According to Intel's web site, the Celeron M 373 is a 1GHz processor with 512k of cache and a 400MHz FSB.

It will be very slow, and it's number one priority is saving power. I assume you are looking at an ultraportable - if you're in the market for a laptop, complete the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum, and we can give you some recommendations.

I'm not going to buy lapton, but I decided to write here, because this CPU is mainly used in portatable PCs. I'm building an embeddem fanless system, which doesn't need a lot of CPU speed and maybe I'll go with Via Eden :)

It should be a fine CPU for basic stuff -very basic. Web surfing and a few other things will be possible, but nothing intensive without serious slowdowns.

Perhaps look for a motherboard that supports the Core Solo/Duo, and see if you can pick up an ultra low voltage model Core Solo (U1400) or Duo (U2500).

Hmmm, these ULV Cores show pretty impressive performance, much much more than Via. But what about the prices? Do you know how much does it cost one U1400?

Edit: I forgot. Intel says tha the termal power desing i 5.5W, I saw that for some processors it is around 90W, so I guess that this is the maximum power dissipation, isn't it?
