I'm looking at budget notebooks for basic tasks. I cant find any benchmarks comparing the two and I'd like to know which is the best deal.

Sempron is better than Celeron mainly concerning battery life as AMD included its PowerNow! feature with it and Intel did not include its powersaving feature with its Celeron processors.

Thanks for the reply and the information much appreciated. I would still like to know if there is a performance difference. Has anyone ran any benchmarks on a Celeron M and a Sempron 3300+ ?

Also, I wish Intel Core Solo was cheaper, it seems to be better than the Celeron M but it adds to the price too much. Are any price drops expected when Core Duo 2 hits?

The Sempron 3300+ will be ahead of the Celeron by a fair amount. What is your budget? Perhaps you would consider completing the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum and we could help you find a suitable notebook. There are more options out there than you think.

Thank you for the advice I might do that. My Budget is $600 I would prefer not to go over that. From what I've read and heard from others the Sempron looks to be the better budget processor.

    Thank you again.

As above: Battery life aside, Sempron processors, whilst being the budget equivilent of Celeron processors for AMD, are much faster cpus.
