I can't seem to open the hardware graphic accelerator, the Change Settings tab is grayed out, would this be a manufacturers setting or a Windows setting?

I get the same thing on all recent versions of Windows. It might be because Aero is enabled.

Still, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Is your GPU crashing?

u thought you can't control the options of what memory etc..can't you change the settings by right clicking on desktop and choosing intel graphics settings or something?

im trying to play world of warcraft with it. the spec's say i have 1700mb of share video memory on it but the game gets a very low frame rate. i think the shared video ram is not giving me enough video ram to play the game. if i can use the hardware graphic accelerator it might improve it somewhat.

What do you mean by "use the hardware graphic accelerator"? Graphics acceleration is already enabled.

you have an integrated intell 4500 video "card" your lucky that it will open WOW without crashing...

check out GMA booster(google) you might be able to get a little better performance...

how can u tell if it is enabled ?

Well the trouble shoot tab has the change settings button grayed out and in there is the hardware graphic accelerator option . I'm hoping that might help me out.

So far I've reinstalled the driver for the video card and now it shows how much video memory I'm currently using.

With WOW running all i get is about 40mb of video ram using , WOW really needs more then that of course. and if the shared video memory is supposed to leach from the system ram to help with the rest then why isn't it ? .

My max dedicated ram is 128mb, i can understand if it max's to 128mb and then lags in-game ,that makes sense, but it will only get to about 40mb, that frustrates me.

I know its not the best laptop to play WOW with but i just want the video ram to leach more to try and improve the play.

thanks for your help, i appreciate it

The amount of ram allocated from your system memory to the integrated Intel graphics is done automatically and you will not be able to change it. It's controlled at the hardware level by the manufacturer.

However, if your motherboard is supported by GMA Booster then you can try it, but other than that there is not much you can do except lower your graphic settings and screen resolution to improve performance.

I am 90% confident that your hardware graphic accelerator is already enabled.

the only thing that puzzles me is if i have 1756mb of available graphic memory why don't i see it being used? if i play a video game that demands medium to high video graphics isn't it supposed to leach it from the system ram to help to help the game perform better?
