Sorry, i know i asked something like this a while ago, but i thought i'd try again since i have a specific model and Again, the previous model from way back, the clevo p150em/ p170em had the upgrade as a diy project and xotic offered it as an upgrade. Do you think that there some model out there from msi that has a steel series keyboard that fits the Sager np8657 or the clevo p650re3? I've contacted xotic, sager, and steelseries. xotic said maybe, but they don't offer the upgrade anymore. I can't remember what sager said, but it might of been something like it's not part of our upgrades so they can't. I asked steelseries if they know what base chasis the keyboards are provided by, and their reply was they only sell the keyboard, the fitting and specifications is done by msi, so i should contact them. I don't know, i know i might as well buy some msi laptop, but the sager has so much more "bang for the buck" and i feel as if it would be really rude and cheesy to ask msi, "hey, can you sell me a steelseries keyboard for this model? Thanks, no, not the laptop, just the keyboard, if it's even possible." In short, does anyone here have any idea or any info on a steelseries replacement keyboard for the clevo p650re3 (sager np8657)

On second though, what about the gigabyte p55w-bw1/ bw1t, that's the other option i'm considering, does anyone know where they get their chassis from and if i can fit some steel series keyboard?

(if you're wondering what in the world is up with this kid and this keyboard, i just like colors, it's not a big deal cause i highly doubt it's possible, but i just think it gives the laptop more color/ character vs the plasticy rubber black chassis the laptops have.)

Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

    Likely, the keyboard either:

    - Won't fit
    - Won't plug in correctly
    - Won't register the keypresses correctly
    - Won't be purchase-able without owning a MSI notebook.

    The first is self explanatory.

The second is because maybe the location of the keyboard ribbons do not suit the motherboard/chassis design. My D900F's keyboard/chassis design would disallow me from plugging it into my P370SM3 for example.

The third also can be explained because of my D900F. I needed a new keyboard for it and we did not know about RJTech at the time. We went looking and purchased a keyboard for the D900K/D900T, which had a different model number, but was otherwise the same (looks, layout, ribbon placement, etc). No shift or ctrl keys worked after plugging it in. Some of my keys were also screwed up. "J" was "M". "K" was "J". "L" was "K". "M" was "L". This was hard-coded into the keyboard; I used a program to read the codes of the keys pressed, and the codes were correctly incorrect (pressing J gave the same code as M that my other keyboard gave for M when I pressed M) and shift/ctrl/fn etc produced absolutely no keycodes at all. The system did not even register that there was a key press at all.

We tried to get the steelseries keyboard for P15xSM/P15xSM-A models already. Steelseries wouldn't allow anyone to purchase a replacement without giving actual proof of owning a MSI notebook which supported it. MSI wasn't allowed to sell the replacements either without the same confirmation.

So basically, no. You're not gonna get it to happen.

Also, please don't buy the P55W. Its cooling system is far less efficient than the Clevos and it'll cost more for an inferior notebook.
