it is very very difficult to change CPU. and i meant REALLY VERY hard work. you need to dissamble pretty much the entire notebook. the CPU might also be soldered in on some notebook.
-
actually, it's not hard at all to change the CPU on newer notebooks. on mine, for example. i would just have to unscrew the backplate, remove the heatsink, swap the CPUs, and replace the heatsink and backplate. shouldn't take more than 10min.

dont you guys need to re-apply thermal paste? or even before that; clean the thermal paste.
-
Well its not difficult if your tech-savvy and wouldn't mind experimenting opening the laptop and yes you will need to clean the old paste off and replace it with some fresh stuff.
-
Sure, but that's not a difficult task. Swapping CPU in my VAIO for example takes about 30mins because i have to remove the whole cover before i can reach my CPU, but it's just alot of screws to remove, not hard to do in any way. Just make sure you unlock the CPU with a flat screwdriver or so before you try to remove it, so you won't try to remove it while it's locked in the socket
Can I replace CPU's
