I'm looking for a caddy and interposer for my dell 1720 laptop (I'm installing a second hard drive). Does anyone know where I can find one?

You should be able to purchase one through Dell. Just shoot them a call.
If not check ebay and do a google shopping search.

I am hoping that all you need is a adaptor/interposer, since it was strange that the drive was not working for you as in the other thread.

After some research, I heard people were able to get one for free (2nd caddy, interposer, and screws).

That sounds good, just contact Dell and they should be able to get one to you in less than a week.

Ok I know that the caddy and the interposer are proprieties of Dell. What about the screws? Can I find them at any electronic/hardware store? Don't know if they're standard.

You can get them at a hardware store, just go to a mom and pop hadware store and you can get exactly what you are looking for. Big stores like home depot an lowes do not have them. If you want you can get them at a local PC shop, (not best buy), but you may have to pay a few $$$ for them. RTDOGS, did the same upgrade and she was charged $5 or $8 for screws.

bring one of the screws from the other caddy, and you should be able to get identical matches. Usually they are M3 - 6 or something very similar.

I have some at home, but whether or not they are the same thread/pitch is unknown.
I would personally give them to you for free if I was the owner of a pc shop, but today everyone is in it for the money, so expect to pay something.

    Good luck,
